I have worked in the construction sector all my life and specialised in health and safety for the last ten years. Initially starting as a setting out engineer and progressing through all departments to become a Senior Project Manager. Following a period with the Highways Agency I took on the role of Safety Advisor and then Safety Manager. I was asked to undertake responsibility for the companies environmental compliance so under took a course in Environmental Management and to the amusement of my children graduated five years after my son. I was then given responsibility for maintenance of our ISO9001 accreditation and the acquisition of both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. As the now SHEQ Manager I had responsibility for all the companies training and health and safety as well as environmental management and maintenance of all our accreditations.

During the construction phase of my career I was lucky enough to work in most of the industrial and manufacturing sectors of the British market, this ranging from Power Stations and Sub. Stations, to Rail, Underground, Water and Waste plants, a variety of manufacturing facilities, MOD sites and highways and road works.

In a career change I started The ‘Elf and Safety Company to put all my experience to good use helping local business meet their legal and other responsibilities.
I know and have used many large organisations, and they have a place, but I wanted to offer an individual service that would be able to meet individuals requirements rather than them having to take an off the shelf solution.
